The safest way to ensure that children or animals are kept a safe distance from the stove (or open fire) is by guarding it with a fireguard. We are often asked about the minimum safe distance needed between stove and guard, but as there is no requirement for a guard at all in domestic settings, this can be at your discretion. However, we would always recommend at least 20cms/8” for the diamond pattern/Traditional design or 25cms/10” for the vertical rod/Contemporary design.
