About us
Made in Britain
We take pride in being ‘Made in Britain’. We have developed the expertise, facilities and training for our apprentices to promote excellence in British design and engineering. Based near Bath, Somerset we manufacture our standard ranges of products in small batches or can design and make bespoke, one-off pieces.
Our story began in 2004 when John and Hilary Thurman knew that they had the design and manufacturing expertise to start a new business. Initially the business specialised in English Wirework for the garden, with particular emphasis on garden arches and wall trellis panels. As demand grew, we developed new products such as door canopies, porches, and window boxes.
Recently, we’ve added traditional fireguards and log holders to our ever growing range of British made products. Our latest additions are the Square Planters and Troughs that were launched this summer to satisfy demand from garden designers and landscape architects.
Design
Inspired by original architectural features and made using traditional techniques, we are constantly innovating and refining our products to create timeless designs that will suit both period and contemporary properties alike. Our product designs constantly evolve to reflect our drive for the very best quality and craftsmanship.
As qualified, award winning designers, we can offer a bespoke design service to our customers if any of our standard designs of door canopies, trellis panels or fireguards don’t suit your requirements. At Garden Requisites, we’re not just a bunch of hairy welders, we really do care about the details of every joint as well as the overall design and proportion of every product.
Sustainability
We care about the natural environment around us which is why we only make products from steel which are hot dip zinc galvanized. Zinc galvanizing forms a corrosion resistant and low maintenance finish that won’t need treating every two years like timber. Timber trellis, porches or garden planters need constant maintenance to prevent rotting and should be sourced from a sustainable, reputable supplier.
Hot dip zinc galvanizing – the bonding of molten zinc with steel – is the most environmentally friendly process available to prevent corrosion. Zinc, the natural element responsible for this corrosion resistance, is naturally occurring and can be recycled indefinitely – a truly sustainable solution.
Service
We deal in house with every stage of the order and production process from start to finish. Once you’ve placed your order over the telephone, we’ll post your order confirmation and receipt to you for safekeeping.
Everything in our collection is made to order in small production batches; this can mean a wait of 4-6 weeks until your order is ready. However, we may make additional quantities of popular products at peak times, such as fireguards before the Christmas rush. Once your order is ready, we contact you to arrange a convenient day for courier delivery or collection. We always welcome feedback to ensure that we continually improve our products and service.
