How to celebrate Christmas? Well, ‘tis the season to be jolly so we can begin by rejoicing the fact that we’ve all made it through yet another successful year and are now looking forward to a relaxing, joyful festive season with family and friends. The tree’s been decorated and our letters have been sent to Father Christmas – what, you haven’t written yours yet? Well what better items to put on the list than some of our fabulous planters and window boxes! Useful and beautiful all year round, fill them with seasonal planting and decorations – just like our painted troughs at the Granary Square Brasserie near King’s Cross in London – seen here in our latest photograph.
Bespoke Troughs beautifully planted
The fabulous display of troughs at Granary Square Brasserie shows how effective a series of Troughs or Square planters can be when used to create a planted screen or create some privacy for diners in a public or private area. The mature planting has been beautifully decorated to provide a very tasteful festive display and will look even more inviting when the lights are turned on at dusk. Whatever your garden or outdoor set up – small patio, courtyard or large expanse of garden – troughs and planters are the ideal solution to creating effective screening when mature plants are used or larger shrubs that are allowed to grow just above eye level. For example, for year round privacy, try the evergreen, small leafed Pittosporum or it’s larger leafed cousin Pittosporum Tobira – used extensively in warmer climates and thrives in a sheltered environment. Both are easy to grow and are dense enough to provide the privacy required as well as being easy to source and look after.
Planters with integral trellis
For a more interesting solution to any privacy issues, we also make Trellis Troughs and planters that have an integral back panel of diamond or square lattice. All of our products are made from steel which are hot dip zinc galvanized before being aged or painted a standard colour or a colour of your choice. The trellis panels are the perfect vehicle to support all manner of twining or climbing plants, for example the ever popular Trachelospermum Jasminoides – the perfect evergreen twiner with the most beautiful star shaped white flowers that provide a lingering perfumed scent for those warm summer evenings.
Window boxes are also a great way of planting with seasonal plants to achieve the festive look. Why not plant some post with Box balls or small holly bushes and decorate with ivy and white fairy lights? They could be mains or solar powered – the choice is endless today so there’ll be an option to suit every pocket. Of course you don’t need a window to have a window box, just fit it to a wall that you pass every day or one that you can look out onto from your kitchen or living room window. You could even hang some bird food from it to encourage the birds to visit your garden over the cold dark winter months.
Whatever you find yourself doing this Christmas, we wish you all a very peaceful and healthy Christmas and New Year.
