Traditional Fireguards

Our diamond-pattern woven mesh fireguards are inspired by the elegant and practical designs of the past. Based on the traditional Victorian nursery fireguard, this distinctive design has become increasingly difficult to find and is now made by us.

Contemporary Fireguards

Our Contemporary Fireguards offer a clean, understated design for more modern interiors. Their simple lines work well alongside contemporary fireplaces and wood-burning stoves, providing protection while allowing the fireplace itself to remain the focus.

Traditional Fireguard Details

Traditional Fireguard

Our Traditional Fireguard combines the character of traditional English wirework with a strong, practical design. The 2″ × 1″ diamond-pattern mesh creates a rigid barrier between the fire and children or pets, while the solid steel construction provides strength and stability.

Convex top rail

The solid steel convex top rail has smooth, rounded edges with no sharp corners, making the fireguard comfortable to handle when moving or lifting it.

Wirework mesh

The crimped wire is handwoven and neatly finished around the inner framework, creating the distinctive diamond-pattern mesh and a clean, considered finish.

Solid steel feet

Solid steel feet are discreetly welded to the underside of the lower rail, adding weight and stability when the fireguard is positioned on the hearth.

Product information

Our Traditional and Contemporary Fireguards are available in four standard sizes, ranging from 26” to 48” wide, as shown above.

Made from solid steel and hot-dip galvanized for durability, the Traditional Fireguard is available in Satin Black or Aged Zinc, while the Contemporary Fireguard is available in Satin Anthracite Grey.

If a standard size isn’t quite right, our award-winning design and manufacturing team can make a fireguard to measure or create a fully bespoke design. Optional spark liners for open fires and side fixings are also available — please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

The fireguard is well constructed and looks wonderful, and in the words of a visiting friend ’magnificent’, a real work of art. Thank you for the efficient service.

Materials

We use solid steel throughout our product ranges, with materials sourced from British suppliers.

Once manufactured, our steel products are hot-dip galvanized to British Standard EN ISO 1461, creating a durable, corrosion-resistant finish that provides long-term protection.

Finishes

The fireguards shown on this page are available in the finishes listed above. Each is made from solid steel, hot-dip galvanized and then finished accordingly.

You can see the finishes in more detail on our Finishes page. Bespoke finishes are also available to order.

Every fireplace and stove combination is different, so choosing the right height, width and depth is important.
